Ever since I can remember, I have had an annoying problem with getting organized at the end of the school day. No matter how hard I try, I always end up packing up my backpack after the bell to go home rings. “Why can't I do it?” is what I often find me saying to myself. I do not know how some people manage to consistently stay organized day after day. I have a serious problem with getting organized at the end of the day.
One main reason why it is hard for me to stay organized is because I am too busy talking to my friends instead of packing up. To prevent this issue from occurring, I can pack up all of my books, papers, folders, and binders first. Then, after all of my tasks for getting organized at the end of the day are complete, I can talk to my friends.
Most of the time my locker looks like a town that was just hit by a hurricane. After I organize it, the hurricane strikes again. Maybe, if I organize my locker more often, it will stay clean. This way I won’t have to clean it as much. If I manage to do this, I will be able to open up my locker without a cascade of books falling down on me. I have found out that organizing a locker can help me a great deal at the end of the day.
I misplace papers all the time. My geography papers end up in my math folder while my math papers end up in my science folder. I can fix this issue by labeling all my folders so I won’t mix them up. Papers of all sorts and sizes are just floating around in my locker. After I receive a paper, I can neatly place it in my folder. Designating a take home folder will also help me improve my organizational skills. A take home folder can help me bring home all the papers that I need, and not forget the important worksheet that is due the next day.
At the end of the day, as I am looking in my assignment notebook, I say to myself, “Shucks! Why didn’t I fill out the assignments that were given to me?” This is a common problem for me that happens all the time. Not filling out an assignment notebook can cause me to forget assignments. A solution to this is that after a teacher assigns an assignment, I can write it down in my assignment notebook right away.
Getting and staying organized at the end of the day can cause a rigorous effort. I know many classmates who have his or her own strategy for getting organized. It is a life skill. I know some people that will not learn the importance of organization for years. My goal is to get organized at the end of the day!
